Hello Friends,
Thank you for your continued support. As I sit here in my office, a space filled with reminders of fatherhood, my thoughts turn to you. My office is right next to my son’s room, and I’m working at my father-in-law’s desk, an honor I inherited. He passed away before I could meet him, but everything in this space connects me to the idea of fatherhood.
This personal connection brings me to thinking about all of you, my fellow dads. This weekend, we celebrate the incredible role fathers play in our lives. As Wheelchair Daddy, I want to take a moment to especially honor the fathers who navigate parenthood from a different seat – literally.
Being a dad is an adventure, filled with joys, challenges, and countless learning experiences. For those of us who use wheelchairs, that adventure comes with its own unique twists and turns. But one thing remains the same: the deep love and commitment we have for our children, a love that echoes through generations, much like the legacy of this desk I now work at.
Father’s Day is a time to reflect on the bonds we share with our kids. It’s about the laughter, the lessons, the late-night talks, and the everyday moments that make fatherhood so special. Whether it’s adapting a game to be more accessible, finding creative ways to play at the park, or simply offering a listening ear, we find our own ways to connect and create lasting memories, just like the memories my father-in-law surely made in this very space.
To all the dads on wheels, remember that your strength, resilience, and love shine brightly. You are role models for your children, showing them that anything is possible with determination and a positive spirit. Your stories, your efforts, your love – they all contribute to the tapestry of fatherhood, a tapestry I feel connected to every day in this office.
This Father’s Day, let’s celebrate all dads, in all their forms. Let’s cherish the time we have with our children and continue to break down barriers, showing the world what incredible fathers we are. Let’s continue to build upon the legacies of fatherhood that surround us.
Happy Father’s Day!
